Transforming Kids
The Preschool and Children’s Ministry has adopted a theme verse and ministry focus for all of our activities. The verse is found in Paul’s letter to believers in Rome and is Romans 12:2 which reads:
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
The focus and theme of ministry to preschool, children and families will be focused on “Transforming Kids”. It is the desire of those called to work in the ministries of HHBC to see transformation in the lives of the children and families in our wider faith family.
The literal translation of Paul’s “be transformed” is continue to be transformed. God tells us that transformation is to be a continual process throughout our lives with Him. The first step in this process is salvation and we seek in all activities involving children to present the gospel clearly and to take seriously the mission field that children present to our church. But our next goal is to see children not be conformed to the constant input of a lost world but to be transformed by having their hearts and minds made in the image of Christ. (In fact this should be the goal of every Christian.)
Therefore as the preschool and children’s ministry begins a new year we are doing so by seeking to ensure that all activities and programs for children in our faith family are focused on leading children to Christ and then teaching them to be transformed into His image. We want to move beyond entertaining and informing children and get to the point of seeing their lives transformed to the image of Christ.

What We Are Learning.
We will have an Early Arriver Adventure for any children K-2 who come during the 8:30 service or earlier than 9:45.
Sunday School meets at 9:45 a.m.
for Kindergarten – 5th grades.
We meet in small groups by grade level for activities and discussion that reinforce the lesson for that day. We combine as large groups (K-3rd) and (4th -5th) for the Bible story.
Each month we focus on one attribute of Jesus that we want to nurture in our children. Examples of these are honesty, discipline, honor, and love.
Children’s Church during 11:00 worship Service
All classes Kindergarten – 5th move to the sanctuary for the 10:30 worship service. One component of this service is the Children’s sermon. All of the children (K-5th) are invited to come to the altar area for a short time of devotion and prayer.
After this the Kindergarten – 2nd graders return to the Children’s Sunday School area for the remainder of their worship service. They participate in videos, activities, and songs that are an extension of the Sunday School lesson.
