We have two RTC Sunday School programs at Heritage Hills Baptist Church.
Our 9:00 a.m. program is called Rotational Sunday School. The theory behind Rotational Sunday School is that it allows children to learn Bible truths through a variety of learning opportunities. It also allows the teachers to use their unique God-given gifts and talents to the best of their ability as they use them to teach children for God’s glory.
The persons traditionally known as teachers are divided into two categories:
SHEPHERDS -- graded-class leaders who are the ones contacting your children
primarily about class events, birthdays, absences, etc. and who want to develop
a relationship with you and your child. ACTIVITY TEACHERS -- primarily provide
the Bible teaching and the learning activity based on the theme of the room
(Drama Room, Game Room, Music Room, Bible Room, Missions Room, and Arts
and Crafts Room). The children meet with their Shepherds who go with them to the
Activity Room for their class for two consecutive weeks (except the DRAMA Room
which they are in for the entire month). Each grade will have the opportunity to
have Bible teaching in each Activity Room throughout the year.
Our 10:30 a.m. program is a broadly graded Sunday School that is the traditional Children’s Sunday
School model. First through Fifth grade meet together for the Bible lesson/Memory Verse time. Two adult
teachers will lead the personalized activity time (activity to reinforce the Bible lesson) which is grade-specific
(1st – 2nd) and (3rd – 5th). They are able to rotate in the different learning rooms such as Bible Room,
Arts & Crafts Room, Missions Room, and Game Room.
Additionally at 10:00 a.m., we have an Adaptive Learning Sunday School class that is for
children who are diagnosed as high-functioning special needs that require no diapering.
At this time, this is what we are equipped to provide.
